Adjusting to Injury

I injured my leg last weekend on a run. The inside of my left leg became sore to the point where it was painful to walk. I tried running on Monday and ended up resting Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week.

Injury or being hurt is a great time to re-assess what I'm trying to achieve in my workouts. I mentioned in an earlier post that I am trying to get a PR in the 10k distance. Achieved. I am running much, much faster now. I also need to realize that I am 39, 6'4" and 240 pounds. Maybe I'm not built for running. Maybe I'm built for other kinds of fitness and training.

I now want to re-calibrate fitness goals - asking the following questions: Wht We are going away as a family next week. It will be a time of thinking through the running routine and other fitness goals.

I have just returned from the knee doctor who diagnosed me with a medial lateral ligament injury and possible torn meniscus. My intent is to follow up here that if your knee or leg continues to be painful don't wait too long to consult your doctor. You have reasonable goals that can be achieved with proper care of yourself, your instrument. This pain is telling you to do something.

My whole life changed in that moment. As Joel has always said “God is still good and God is still on the Throne”. Out of that nightmare arose a path that I would never Have taken, but I choose to end my nursing career and become…

I injured my knee in the exact same place just walking. I don't actually remember what happened, but I am going to the doctor tomorrow because the pain is excruciating. The word excruciating refers to the pain Christ felt on the cross. It gives us reason to contemplate the measure of his love and sacrifice for us.
